What should i buy for my computer? Limit: $500?

Looking to spend around $500 on accessories for my computer. I have a 2006 Gateway DX200. Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.93GHz, 504 MB of RAM… I’m moving my apartment downstairs to a nicer room and i want the place to look nice. Therefore im looking to centralize the room around my computer. I’m looking for suggestions such as 24 Inch Flat Screen Monitor, TV Tuner, Video Card etc… Maybe you don’t think i should invest in my computer at all, i don’t know. I’m no expert. Tell Me What you think. Remember Price Range- $500
I need things to make it cool… Any combo of things… 24 Inch Flat Screen w/wall mount and wireless mouse/keyboard was the best idea yet. Also i need to know specifically what video/graphics card to get. I don’t quite understand all the technical stuff myself, just name the card, the price, and why its good.
PS: What will more RAM do?

Increase your memory. Simply look the model number on your existing sticks and see what kind of ram you need. Go to newegg and type in the type (ex: PC2 6400). You need about 1-2GB of ram. Should only cost about $70. Will make your computer run smooth.

If you want it to look cool, I would recommend APEVIA X-CRUISER-BK Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case. It has a good amount of space (incase you upgrade later) and it is only $75. Newegg.com

Monitor: Acer AL2016WBbd Black 20″ 5ms DVI Widescreen LCD Monitor – Retail. Newegg.com. Impressive 20″ and Widescreen. Cost around $190 after shipping.

Video Card: POWERCOLOR Radeon X1950PRO X1950PRO512MB AC Video Card – Retail (Newegg.com) Impressive 512MB and its rather cheap $200 ($150 after mail in rebate). IF IT IS A PCI EXPRESS VIDEO CARD.

If you need an AGP Video Card: You will need a 256MB card. Visiontek Radeon X1550 / 256MB DDR2 / AGP 8x / DVI / VGA / HDTV / Video Card (Tigerdirect.com). It has good ratings and will be a nice addition. $90

This will cost around $500 and it will be a great addition to your PC. It will look awesome, and run awesome. If you decide not to get anything, I wouldn’t get the video card. If you don’t do intense gaming like Oblivion or F.E.A.R, then you can get away with SAPPHIRE 100189 Radeon X1900GT 256MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 CrossFire Supported Video Card – OEM. Still a good card, but it’s only $100 on Newegg.

If you do end up getting a Video card, make sure to check the recommended power supply voltage on the card and get a power supply that will satisfy that. Normally you will only need a 450 watt power supply and you can get those for around $30-$50.
